Refurbishment of old trains
In 2021, the STIB continued the interior design of the old generation metro trains. Passengers discovered new typical Brussels decors.
In February, the Mont des Arts and the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken were featured, followed by the Atomium and the Parc du Cinquantenaire in June and the Royal Palace and the Basilica of Koekelberg in October.
This project, which started in 2020, is the result of a collaboration between the STIB and visit.brussels. The STIB had redesigned a total of 8 carriages by the end of 2021 and plans to continue this momentum in 2022, with new iconic locations such as the Japanese Tower and Tour & Taxis.
